Community Speedwatch (CSW) is a national initiative where members of local communities, with the support of the Police, monitor speeds of vehicles, using speed detection devices. Vehicles exceeding the speed limit are referred to the Police, with the aim of educating drivers to reduce their speeds. In cases where education is blatantly ignored, evidence of repeat or excessive offences is collated (even across county borders) and enforcement and prosecutions follow.
Robersbridge Speedwatch Group is made up of local volunteers from our village, led by Freddie Pooke, Group Co-ordinator. The group monitor speed of vehicles travelling into, around and out of the village. The latest report, which is reported to Sussex Police, can be found here.
